Central World hastwo department stores, the Zen and Isetan, which both has a huge open area over several floors, containing many different brands. Each brand has its own area but there no walls between them. Very open and airy.

2. Siam Paragon

Siam Paragon is huge, with it`s 9 floors!

_DSC0449

You can shop Chanel at the Luxury wing at first floor of Paragon.

At the ground floor is a big food court with many restaurants and cafes. Many of the biggest international restaurant chains are represented here. The only ting with Paragon`s food court is that there are no walls between the restaurants and cafes, they are all in one huge area, which makes the noise level a bit too highin my opinion. Sometimes it gets so noisy its hard tohold a conversation with others at the same table!

A huge supermarket is also located at the ground floor, with food from all over the world.

Paragon also have a luxury wing at the groundfloor, The Luxury, with posh and expensive brands such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Burberry, Jimmy Choo, Marc Jacobs and Armani. Even car brands as Lamborghini and Ferrari have shops here.

Louis Vuitton is of course represented at The Luxury on ground floor at Paragon.

Also more affordable shops as H&M, Zara, Mango, TopShop, TopMan, Massimo Dutti and Miss Sixty can be found at Paragon.

Paragon has Bangkoks biggest and best book store (at least of books in English),Kinokuniya, on 3rd floor.

Also iStudio, the authorized Apple shop, is located on 3rd floor.

If you are up for a little sweat and want to burn some calories, then one of Bangkoks biggest and best fitness centers are located on 4th floor,Fitness First.

Paragon has its Department Store, where lots of different brands are located in a big open area over several floors.

Each floor of the Paragon Department Store has its speciality, among themwomens clothes, mens wear, shoes, sports, furniture and so on. In the Department Store you will also find the great Exotic Thai store on 4th floor. Here they have all kinds of Thai design products, from clothing, jewelery, souvenirs and beauty products, all made in Thailand. Really love this Exotic Thai, it is a nice place to find gifts and souvenirs to bring back home, if you dont have time to hit the street markets in search of bargains!

_DSC0443

_DSC0447

Lots of great Thai design at Exotique Thai in Paragon. Silk, beauty products and jewelery.

Paragon has probably the best cinema complex in Bangkok, with both 4D, 3D and IMAX (all together they have 15 large size theaters). These are all located on 5th floor. There are monitors at the entrances of Paragon, displaying an overview of what movies are showing and at what time.

At the basement level is South East Asias biggest aquarium,Siam Ocean World. Going there is a lovely break from the shopping, especially for kids. Paragon also has a bowling alley and karaoke center, if that is your thing 🙂

3. Siam Center

Siam Center is located just next to Siam Paragon. This center is not nearly as big as Paragon and Central World. It hasa darker and dimmer feel to it. It consists of many shops though, and has a great food court on top floor which is less noisy and crowded than the one at Paragon.

Shops as DKNY, Armani Exchange, Sephora, MAC, Victorias Secret (the only one in Bangkok), Adidas and Nike is located in Siam Center.

At Sephora, Siam Center, you can find all sorts of cosmetics and beauty products.

There are also some small cafes here. It`s nice to walk around at Siam Center, as it is much more peaceful and less noisy than Central World and Paragon.

4. Siam Discovery

Siam Discovery is also smaller than its big brothers Paragon and Central World, but bigger and much brighter and easier to orientate yourself in than Siam Center. I really like the layout of this shopping center, it is easy to find your way around. This centre also has some of my favourite brands, so I love it! 🙂

This center has shops as: Marc by Marc Jacobs, Diesel, French Connection, Miss Sixty (these are all on first floor), DKNY, Kenneth Cole, Fred Perry, Calvin Klein, Replay (these are all on 2nd floor), Smart Travel/ North Face (3rd floor).

Several good hair dressers and beauty saloons are located in Siam Discovery. I have tried both Toni&Guy (5th floor) and Hair Decor (1st floor), and can highly recommend them both! Much cheaper than at home, and I was happywith the good result :). Lots of other fun shops here too, like Concept Store on top floor with fun and beautiful design stuff for your home, or perfect as gifts for your friends and family back home.

Discovery has BangkoksMadame Tussaudson 6th floor.

5. MBK

MBK, or Mahbookkrong as it is originally called, was built in 1985 and is one of Asias oldest shopping centers. It is a huge center particularly popular among teen Thai girls. The center is packed with small shops, mostly Thai brands and designs, and not many international shops. Needless to say that many of their sizes doesnt fit a regular western body, unfortunately.

_DSC9234

Two floors (4th and 5th floor) is full of electronics, from Apple shops as iStudio to big professional camera shops as Nikon and Canon. One part of the 4th floor is full of tiny stalls selling all sorts of electronic stuff and spare parts. They have everything you can think of! Especially mobiles phones and mobile accessorize is in a majority. Here you can also have your mobile phone fixed if you have any problems with it, as they can fix almost everything at a cheap price while you wait!Espen had the button on his iPhone replaced for 500 THB

At MBK you can also find Thai souvenirs at cheap price, although dont expect them to be as high quality as the ones in the Exotic Thai department in Paragon.

If you get hungry, or need a rest, there are food courts on 5th and 6th floor (Thai and international food). And if you get really fed up with shopping and want to do something else, you can go bowling or sing karaoke on 7th floor. This shopping center is great fun, but pretty exhausting as it is packed with Thai teenagers shopping like crazy!

  • How to get here: Sky train to Siam or National Stadium station, and do a short walk.
  • Opening hours: 10 a.a. 10 p.m.
  • MBKs webpage

6. Pantip Plaza

Pantip is a geeks heaven! This five floor shopping center is packed with electronics of all kind. At first glance this chaos of shops and noise feels like madness, but there is some logic and system to it all.

_DSC6499

Pantip is full of electronics of all sorts, and a bit chaotic.

Here you can find everything from serious well-known shops as iStudio and iShop (3rd floor), Nikon, Sony and Canon, to not so legal small stalls selling pirate movies, TV series, games and software. This center has an entire floor just for mobile phones, phone accessorizes and mobile repair.

Pantip has an official Apple service center on 4th floor.

We love to walk around here looking and trying out all sorts of gadgets! The noise level is quite high, which together with the crowds make it quite exhausting after a while. Pantip also has a food court on 2nd floor with typical Thai dishes.

  • How to get here: Sky train to Chit Lom station, and walk. Or take a tuk-tuk.
  • Opening hours: 10 a.m. 9 p.m., but the best time to go is mid-day as many of the smaller shops opens later and closes earlier.

7. Central Chitlom

Central Chitlom is located next to the sky train station Chit Lom, with seven floors, and has a straight forward design and layout of each floor. Each floor is a big open space with the different brand having its own area with no walls between them. First floor is all about perfumes, cosmetics, jewellery and handbags. It has brands such as Mulberry, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Dior and Louis Vuitton.

At 4th floor you can find a good selection of high quality Thai souvenirs like silk and beauty products made in Thailand. This is among my favorite shopping centers in Bangkok, as it has some of my favorite brands. The shoe floor is great, with a large selection ofinternational shoe brands!

Chitlom has a nice and relaxed vibe, and all floors are airy and open spaced with the different brands spread out with no walls between them. It is easy to orientate and find your way around. Peaceful, and not so crowded and noisy as Paragon and Central World. It also has some nice and cozy restaurants and cafes, as Greyhound which has delicious cakes! This is also my mums favourite shopping center 🙂

Its food court on 7th floor is good and popular, also among Thais.

Chitlom does not have cinema or other entertainment, so what you get here is pure shopping.

  • How to get here: Sky train to Chit Lom station.
  • Opening hours: 10 a.m. 10 p.m.
  • Central Chitloms webpage

8. Terminal 21

Terminal 21 is located near Asok sky train station, and is a fairly new shopping center which opened in 2011.

IMG_1180

This is a really cool shopping center, one of the coolest and most spectacular I have ever been in! Each floor is designed as a city, one is London, another is Paris, Rome, Tokyo, Istanbul, San Fransisco and Hollywood. The center is huge, consisting of more than 600 shops!

IMG_1184

Although it has big international brands such Esprite, Camper, Adidas, H&M, Guess, Levis, Nike and Quiksilver, it is also full of small and cool Asian design brands. This combo is great!

The Emporium is close to Phrom Phong sky train station, opened in 1997, and consists of seven floors.

The Emporium is a glamorous and glossy center, light and with a nice atmosphere. At ground floor is Emporium Supermarket, with delicious food from all over the world. The first floor consists of perfumes and cosmetics, handbags and jewellery. Here are all the big international brands, such as Marc by Marc Jacobs, Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton and Mulberry. Second floor is all about fashion, clothes and shoes. Third floor is electronics and sports, while 4th and 5th floor consist of interior decor, furniture and household stuff. On 4th floor is Exotic Thai, the perfect place to find Thai souvenirs and gifts to bring back home. 6th floor consists of exhibition center. The top floor can offer spas and cinema.

I have only been to this shopping center once, it was a bit too posh and stylish for my taste, with very pricy brands.

Just beside the river is the new and posh Asiatique, Bangkoks new night market. It is a mix of Asian, American and European food and shopping, as well as entertainment. This area used to belong to the Danish Ostindiske Kompani in the old days, and their old storage buildings have now been converted into cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops. The shops mainly have a tourist focus, where you can find Thai products and design, some of it you also find at Chatuchak Weekend Market.
